Barclays and Wincor Nixdorf win gold at the Self-Service World Outstanding Achievement Awards Barclays and Wincor Nixdorf have won a gold award at the finals of the Self-Service World Outstanding Achievement Awards for their successful introduction of new Account Servicing kiosks to branches across the UK. The gold award in the financial category, presented at the Self-Service & Kiosk Show in San Antonio, Texas, recognises the success of a project to deploy 512 Wincor Nixdorf kiosks at Barclays branches across the UK. Shawna Miller, managing editor of Self-Service World magazine and co-ordinator of the awards programme comments: “Self-Service World magazine’s Outstanding Achievement Awards recognise solutions that have helped encourage the use of self-service technologies by positively impacting the industries in which they are deployed.” The kiosks bring the functionality of internet banking into Barclays branches, enabling customers to administer their accounts, pay bills and transfer money via a simple touch-screen interface, without waiting in line to see a cashier. Wincor Nixdorf also won a silver award in the Public Sector category, for a project at the German state employment agency, Bundesagentur für Arbeit. “Our judges and readers believe Wincor Nixdorf’s entries are excellent examples of solutions that have streamlined business and reduced costs for their deployers and, at the same time, have improved service to the deployers’ customers, hugely benefiting both parties,” concludes Shawna Miller. “And satisfying both sides of the service equation is definitely an outstanding achievement.”
